Tokai/Ebara Seven Lucky Gods Pilgrimage
Seven Lucky GodsIn Japan, there are seven gods called Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods) who bring good luck. Shinagawa City has temples and shrines that are dedicated to these seven gods. These temples and shrines are mixed into two groups of seven each and are referred to as Tokai Shichifukujin and Ebara Shichifukujin. It is said that visiting such temples and shrines during New Year’s will bring you good luck.
It is also said that if you place a picture of the Seven Lucky Gods on board a takarabune (treasure boat) under your pillow during New Year’s, your first dream of the year will be a good one, and you will have good luck for the rest of the year.
