The 18th Traditional Crafts and Tastes of Shinagawa Exhibition

Artisans who have preserved the traditional crafts and cooking of the Shinagawa area demonstrate their superior skills once a year. This year, there will be talks on making wire netting and a performance of Edo kyokugoma (top spinning).

Date and time: January 26 (Sat.) and 27 (Sun.), from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: Event Hall, Curian 7F (in front of Oimachi Station)
Program: Demonstrations of traditional crafts and cooking by artisans
Craft demonstrations: Tegaki yuzen (hand painted yuzen dyeing), reed screen/broom making, ukiyo-e printing, Buddhist sculpture making, Edo-kiriko (Edo glass-cutting), wood lathe work, antique repairing, mounting, shamisen, kimono making, crest design, dyeing, metal cosmetic scissor making, Tokyo paulownia wood chest carving, Tokyo silverwork, lacquerware, textile work using plants as dyes, obi making, paper lantern calligraphy, making wire netting, and making Japanese fishing rods.
Cooking demonstrations: Japanese sweets, fish cakes, rice crackers, candy, tea, soba, and more.
