New Health Checkups and Health Instruction (for Those 40 Years of Age and Older) Have Begun as of April
The health checkups conducted by the city for Shinagawa residents ended in March. Instead, health checkups that focus on metabolic syndrome (visceral fat syndrome) are being conducted as of April by the medical insurer to which an individual belongs. Health instruction in preventing metabolic syndrome is provided to those who need it.
Health Checkups Are Conducted by Medical Insurers |
Shinagawa City conducts Specially Designated Health Checkups for those who are between 40 and 74 years of age and enrolled in the Shinagawa City National Health Insurance program as well as Latter-Term Elderly Health Checkups for those who are 75 years of age and older. For those who are between 40 and 74 years of age and enrolled in medical insurance other than Shinagawa City National Health Insurance, the medical insurer to which one belongs conducts Specially Designated Health Checkups.
Furthermore, those who are 75 years of age and older are automatically transferred from their regular medical insurance program, such as National Health Insurance or social insurance, and will receive health checkups under the Latter-Term Elderly Medical System.
Note: Please refer to the information distributed by the medical insurer to which you belong for a schedule of checkups, etc.
- Other health checkups, such as cancer checkups and tuberculosis checkups, are conducted by the city as before.
