Let’s Enjoy Festivals!
Shinagawa City has various festivals in each community throughout the year. In this issue, we will describe two festivals. Both festivals are spectacular and draw large crowds. Do not miss the opportunity of experiencing the excitement of each festival.

●Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri
Dates: September 27 (Sat.) and 28 (Sun.)
Location: Along Kyu-Tokaido Avenue (from the area near Kita-Shinagawa Station on the Keikyu Main Line to the area near Aomono Yokocho Station)
There will be a parade of people dressed as samurai warriors and townspeople from the Edo period, a flea market, a grand lottery, and various other events. In addition, although there is a charge, a yakata-bune (boat) will offer a leisurely cruise four times a day. |
◯ Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri Yakata-bune Ride
On the boat, a guide will explain the sights that can be seen from the vessel in Japanese.
Date and time: September 28 (Sun.), (1) 12:30 p.m., (2) 1:00 p.m., (3) 2:00 p.m., and (4) 2:30 p.m.
Note: The cruise lasts approximately one hour.
Program: Touring the water routes of the Shinagawa area
Capacity: 50 people per cruise
Fee: ¥1,050 per cruise (for those of elementary school age and older)
Ticket location: At Hinkai Park (1-30 Kita-Shinagawa), from 10:30 a.m. on the day of the event

Yakata-bune
Yakata-bune is a type of boat on which people usually enjoy banquets and meals. (Meals are not provided on the Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri cruise.) Measuring 20 meters in length, the boat has a roof and a Japanese-style room. |
●Shinagawa Yume Sanbashi
Dates: October 11 (Sat.) through 13 (national holiday)
Location:Area around Osaki Station
This popular festival draws large crowds every year. Many exciting events, such as a brass band performance, Japanese drum performance, and dancing, are scheduled to be on the festival’s program. This is sure to be an enjoyable event, even for children, with refreshment booths, a flea market, and exhibition booths run by local businesses. |
