Since signing the friendship city agreement on May 17, 1993, Shinagawa City and the city of Auckland, New Zealand, have conducted exchange programs, such as the youth homestay program. Twelve high school students visited Auckland this year, and Shinagawa will serve as host for 16 youths from Auckland. From September 14, official and friendship delegations will be sent to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the friendship agreement, and the delegations will participate in the anniversary ceremony and friendly exchange programs with citizens of Auckland.
