The 25th Shinagawa Disaster Prevention Fair


January 17 is the day the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake struck. Shinagawa City holds the Disaster Prevention Fair at this time of year. A variety of events are held in cooperation with various disaster prevention institutions. To prepare for an emergency, why not learn about disaster prevention while having fun?

Opening—10:00 a.m.
Citizens fire brigade and minipump brigade appreciation award ceremony

17 (Sat.)
• Serving of tempura udon
—from 11:00 a.m.; ¥100 per dish; capacity: 350 servings
• Hyperrescue brigade demonstration—from 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
• Traditional fire brigade demonstrations (kiyari [working song], matoifuri [banner waving], and ladder climbing) by the Edo Firemanship Preservation Association, Shinagawa Matoi Conservation Association—from 12 noon
• Rescue demonstration by mobile rescue teams and police dogs—from 12:30 p.m.

• Mini-fire truck ride
• Police motorcycle exhibition
• Hands-on experience: Using the 171 disaster message service
• Shinagawa Shelter model exhibit
• Mediation for the purchase of fire extinguishers and free inspection for fire extinguishers
• Mediation for the purchase of disaster prevention supplies
• Disaster prevention “stamp rally”
