As of October 1, 2010, the Japanese government will be conducting a Population Census. This census is the most basic statistical survey to obtain actual state of all the households and people living in Japan. The data collected from the Population Census will be used broadly as reference for improving the living conditions of those who live in Japan.
●Applicability
The Population Census covers everyone living in Japan, regardless of nationality. You are legally required to respond.
●Procedures
A Census Survey Official will deliver a Census Form to each household late September.

Place the completed form in the envelope that came with it (no postage necessary) and mail it no later than October 7 (Thu.).
Notes:
1. All people involved in the census have a duty to keep the gathered information confidential.
2. All the data gathered will never be used for any such purposes as for immigration office or police, and be dissolved completely after computation of the data.
