Square Ebara Opens

Ebara Hiratsuka General Citizens’ Hall, built on the site of the former Hiratsuka Elementary School and known as Square Ebara, opened on April 1. Square Ebara is meant to be a facility that everyone loves as a place to get together, relax, and meet new people, and as a center for culture, art, and sports activities as well as friendly exchanges for all city residents.

■ Halls and Meeting Rooms for Cultural Activities, and an Arena for Sports Activities, Can Be Rented for a Fee

4F: Small meeting rooms 1 through 5 (27 to 43 m2): For art and other cultural activities, as well as local programs
Japanese-style tatami mat room (69 m2): For practicing tea ceremony, flower arrangement, etc.
Exhibition room (50 m2): For exhibiting works of art, etc.
Note: The exhibition room can be used together with small meeting room 3.
3F: The large meeting room (125 m2) and medium-sized meeting room (80 m2): For gatherings, lectures, all types of parties, and for culture and art activities, as well as local programs
2F: Arena (756 m2): For basketball, volleyball, badminton, ping-pong, etc.
Mezzanine: Studios 2 and 3 (39 m2 and 25 m2, respectively): For musical activities, band practice, etc.
1F:

Hiratsuka Hall (486 m2) has 362 seats; for performances of all genres of Japanese and Western entertainment arts, etc.
Event Hall (457 m2): For gatherings, ceremonies, and all types of parties, lectures, etc.
Note: The Event Hall can be partitioned into three sections using movable walls.
Studio 1 (82 m2): For musical activities, dance practices, etc.
Cafe: Convenient as a rendezvous point

● To use these facilities, you must make a reservation in advance and pay a fee.
● Priority is given to those who live in Shinagawa City or groups in Shinagawa City. Applicants can participate in the lottery on the first day applications are accepted.
● If you complete group registration and acquire a password, you can make a reservation via the Internet using the Shinagawa Facility Reservation System (https://yoyaku.city.shinagawa.tokyo.jp/) for rooms that are not reserved in the lottery. For Hiratsuka Hall and Event Hall, however, you can only confirm availability.

■Information on Performances at Hiratsuka Hall (admission charged)

● Noh Performance Prayer for Happiness—Takasago
Enjoy a performance of representative congratulatory music of Japan’s oldest traditional arts Noh and kyogen (Noh comedy).
Date and Time: June 16 (Sun.), from 2:00 p.m. (The hall will open from 1:30 p.m.)
Program: An easy-to-understand lecture on Noh music (in Japanese), “Do You Noh?” by Tsunao Yamai; sutai (Noh lyrics without music) “Okina” by Yasuaki Konparu (80th head of the Konparu School); kyogen “Suehirogari” by Noriyoshi Okura; Noh “Takasago” by Tsunao Yamai.

●Vocal and Instrumental Family Concert Filled with Summer and Dreams
Date and Time: July 28 (Sun.), from 2:00 p.m. (The hall will open from 1:30 p.m.)
Program: Summer songs and children’s songs performed by the Pumpkin Carriage Musical Band and other musicians

Transportation Information
• A 10-minute walk from Musashi-Koyama Station on the Meguro Line or Togoshi-Ginza Station or Ebara-Nakanobu Station on the Ikegami Line; or a 12-minute walk from Togoshi Station on the Asakusa Line (A3 exit)
• A five-minute walk from the Hiratsukabashi bus stop, taking the Tokyu Bus heading to Setagaya Kuminkaikan from Gotanda Station's west exit No. 8 boarding area.
Notes:
1. Since parking is limited, with a capacity for 20 cars, 86 bicycles, and 7 motorcycles, it is likely to be particularly crowded on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays. Please use the train or bus as much as possible.
2. Since the roads in the surrounding area are very narrow, parking your car in the street would cause problems with those living in the neighborhood.
3. Parking fee (24-hour parking): cars are ¥200 for 30 minutes, bicycles are ¥100 for 180 minutes, and motorcycles are ¥200 for 60 minutes.
