Notification of the Individual Number System

The Individual Number System (the "My Number System" ) is a unique 12-digit number that will be issued to all individuals who possess a resident record, due to the introduction of a new system for the management of social security and taxation.

● My Number notifications will be sent out from late October
Using simple registered post, individuals will receive a "Notification Card" with their My Number indicated. This notification will be delivered to the household address listed on an individual's resident record.

● My Number usage to commence from January 2016
Gradually over time, individuals will be able to utilize this system in order to complete their taxation procedures. They will also be able to carry out procedures to qualify for pensions, to confirm their pension details and to receive pension payments. Applying to receive health insurance benefits, welfare and public assistance, etc., shall also be possible.

●From January 2016, individuals may be issued with a "Indivisual Number Card" if they apply for it.
The "Individual Number Card" represents a formal means of identification by which the identity of an individual can be confirmed. It is expected that the card will be able to be used when making electronic applications such as those involving e-tax (the system for the electronic filing and payment of national taxes), etc.

●Corporate Number System notifications to commence from October
The Corporate Number System represents a unique 13-digit number that is to be issued to all corporations by the National Tax Agency, notifications shall be sent to the address where a business is registered.
