Togoshi Park Even Feudal Lords Likely Strolled Here during the Edo Period Togoshi Park’s circular promenade was constructed using the remaining garden at the residence of the Hosokawa clan, feudal lords during the Edo Period (1603–1867) from the Higo region (present-day Kumamoto Prefecture). With a lake in the center as well as a ravine, a waterfall and an artificial hill, the promenade is designed to encourage contemplative, companionable strolls.
