“One Hundred Scenes of Shinagawa” were selected by city residents.

From the uptown area to the seaside, Shinagawa City has many places where you can enjoy cherry blossoms, many designed for strolling, and other oases where you can relax and feel the seasons. Why not enjoy a walk under these spring flowers?

Cherry Blossoms along the Meguro River

(Nishi-Gotanda, Higashi-Gotanda, Osaki and Kita-Shinagawa areas)
The banks of the Meguro River create one of Tokyo’s favorite cherry blossom viewing spots, with many people strolling along the riverside under the blooms. In the winter, you can also enjoy illumination called “Fuyuno Sakura (cherry blossoms in winter),” in which the cherry trees are decorated with pink LEDs.

Goten-yama, Famous for Beautiful Cherry Blossoms

(4-8 Kita-Shinagawa)
Gotenyama was famous as a cherry blossom spot in the Edo Period (1603–1867) and still keeps peaceful atmosphere. There are cherry trees along Gotenyama-dori Street and Gotenyama Trust City, and you can stroll around.

Cherry Trees along Sakura-shinmichi Avenue

(Minami-Oi)
This avenue runs parallel between Oi-Suijin Park and Dai-1 Keihin Avenue. Two types of double cherry trees—one that produces light pink blossoms and one with flowers of deeper pink—line the street and grow big, forming beautiful arches. The view from the Sakura-shinmichi pedestrian walkway, in the shape of an X, is particularly amazing.

Cherry Tree-Lined Street in Nishi-Koyama

(5, 6 and 7-chome Ebara, 5 and 6-chome Koyama)
Tachiai-doro Street, a big cherry blossom spot that runs for about 1 km from Nakahara-kaido Avenue to Nishi-Koyama Station, is also known as Cherry Tree-Lined Street in Nishi-Koyama. There are around 160 cherry trees here. During the flowering season, the blossoms form a tunnel of pale pink.

Sports Center

(Oi Central Seaside Park; 4-1 Yashio)
This is a Tokyo metropolitan comprehensive sports facility with a track and field area, ball game grounds, baseball fields and tennis courts. Sports Center will serve as the venue for the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 field hockey competition. About a hundred cherry trees have been planted in the facility’s garden, and many people visit to enjoy the flowers.

Togoshi Park

(2-1-30 Yutakacho)
Togoshi Park, which makes you feel the aspect of the daimyo feudal lord garden, has many trees and plants that bloom seasonally, including Japanese plum, cherry, rhododendron and ginkgo. The park is a popular cherry blossom viewing spot for local residents. There are also many kind of trees including cherries and ponds in Bunko no mori Park located near Togoshi Park, so people can take a leisurely walk, and relax and enjoy the blossoms on the lawn and the space surrounded by greenery.
