Shinagawa City Gotanda Cultural Center Planetarium

Let’s Delve into the Mysteries of the Universe, Enveloped in a Starry Sky

Did you know that there is a planetarium at Gotanda Cultural Center, which is one of Shinagawa City’s five cultural centers? The planetarium projector, which is called CHRONOS II, is a state-of-the-art planetarium projector with a 360-degree celestial digital imaging system that can project about 9,500 known stars of up to 6.5 in brightness magnitude—all in realistic brightness and color—onto a domed roof with a diameter of 12 meters. Naturally this facility is a great place to learn about astronomy, but the planetarium is also a great place to relax with a healing effect or spend a romantic moment. If you’ve never been to the planetarium before, why not check it out? Even if you’ve been to the planetarium, you’ll certainly make some fascinating discoveries.
