Shinagawa City Resident Arts Festival 2018—O Art Museum Special Exhibition
Amélié Hayashi 2018: Fall Color Assemblage
—Revival! Breathing New Life into Old Kimono
Amélié Hayashi, who lives in Shinagawa City, worked at a prestigious fashion house in Paris before coming to Japan for the first time in 1963 as a technical expert in haute couture. She soon became fascinated with Japanese kimono, and began pairing her outstanding sewing skills and sense of color with various old kimono textiles and belts, producing quilt covers, table linens, accessories and clothes. Through this exhibition she relays the charm of Japanese textiles reborn through her French sensibilities.
