Ume (plum) trees

Capturing the festive mood of the New Year’s holidays, the red and white flowers of the ume (plum) trees announce the coming warmth of spring even as the cold persists. Particularly impressive is how the flowered branches stretch out very straight. In Shinagawa City, you can see plum blossoms at Shinagawa Central Park (in front of the Shinagawa City Office) and Shinagawa-Kumin Park (3-2 Katsushima), and elsewhere between mid-January and mid-February.
