Notice regarding Dog Registration and Periodic Group Rabies Vaccination
Dogs 91 days old or older must be registered once in their lifetime and are to be given a rabies shot once a year.
Note: To prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, please refrain from coming to the city office to complete procedures.
● Registration
Registration is required within 30 days if you acquire a dog 91 days old or older. Upon registration, you will be issued with a dog tag. Please attach the tag to your dog’s collar. The registration fee is 3,000 yen.
• If there is a change
Please file a change notification whenever the owner’s address changes or if the dog’s ownership is transferred.
• If your dog dies
Please file a notification that your dog has died.
You can complete both procedures above at the Public Hygiene Section, Shinagawa Health Service Center, Ebara Health Service Center, or any regional community center. For a death notification, applications can be made online via the Shinagawa City website (in Japanese).
● Periodic Group Rabies Vaccination
According to the Rabies Prevention Law, dog owners must have their pets vaccinated annually to prevent rabies. Periodic group vaccinations will be conducted at eighteen designated veterinary hospitals in Shinagawa City.
Period: Until June 30 (Tue.)
Notes:
1. We will extend the period to three months as a novel coronavirus infection control, to avoid congestion. The dog owners with cold symptoms such as a fever should wait until feeling better to go to the group vaccination.
2. Since the hours of these locations vary, please confirm the hours of the veterinary hospital you plan to use.
Eligibility: Dogs 91 days old or older
Fee: 3,750 yen
Note: If you have your dog vaccinated on a day outside of the designated period, the fees may be different.
