“Shinagawa” has been thriving since the Nara and Heian Periods. There are power spots here that overflow with positive energy. We introduce the power spots to get a sense of Mother Nature and the strength of history.

Nemunoki-no-niwa Garden
(Silk Tree Garden)
This park was established by the ward on the site of the Shoda residence, a historic site where the former Empress Michiko grew up. There are 50 types of plants, including the trees the former Empress Michiko loved, as well as roses of the variety named "Princess Michiko." You can enjoy different natural scenery here each season.

Ikedayama Park
This Japanese-stle garden, called Chisen-Kaiyushiki-Teien features a path around a pond with lovely seasonal flowers. It’s said to be situated on an energy path that flows from the sacred mountain Mount Fuji, and the pond in the park reportedly has a high purification effect.

Tanjo-hachiman-jinja Shrine/Jubako-inari Shrine
Tanjo-hachiman-jinja Shrine is believed to be the protective god of safe childbirth. The two huge ginkgo trees in front of the main hall are estimated to be over 300 years old.

Daien-ji Temple
In the temple’s front main hall, there is a power spot enshrining Daikokuten (the god of wealth) modeled after Tokugawa Ieyasu. This temple was apparently the starting point of the Gyoninzaka Fire, one of the three great fires of the Edo Period (1603-1868). The stone statues to the left of the entrance gate were reportedly made at that time as an offering for the precious lives lost in the fire.

Oshichi-no-ido (Oshichi Well)
This is reportedly the well where cold-water ablutions were conducted by a young man to mourn a beloved young girl, Oshichi who was sentenced to burn at the stake during the early Edo Period (1603-1868).

An Oasis in the Heart of the City
Hotel Gajoen Tokyo
This hotel has about 2,500 works of Japanese arts and crafts on display. Its waterfall, surrounded by natural greenery, is said to be a power spot.
